Corps Member Monday: Investing for Good

November 4, 2013

by Noel Thompson and Bekah Fallon, Corps Members proudly serving on the New Schools for Baton Rouge Entergy Louisiana Team at Broadmoor Middle School

Banking quickly became the top job on the A/B Honor Roll’s lips as the award packets for those high-achieving students were passed out at Broadmoor Middle School two weeks ago. As the students looked through their new swag bags Capital One handed out, there was definitely mixed reactions. From the 6th graders, who clambered around the bag looking for anything sweet in which they could indulge to the 8th graders, who sheepishly thanked the Corps members handing out the bags and waited for the photo event to be quickly done with because they are too cool for school.

The students were super appreciative of the goods and supplies that were given to the school. I know from personal experience that pencils are at a premium, and there’s never enough paper to go around.

It’s very refreshing to know national corporations with local branches like Capital One are willing to contribute to the fight for a more equitable education while encouraging student success and good grades! Thank you Capital One for giving our students at Broadmoor and Capitol Middle Schools the morale boost and making them feel special! And please make sure you keep Alec Baldwin in your commercials, he ALMOST makes me want to apply for a credit card (ALMOST)!
