Q&A

Why did you join City Year? College opened up many doors for me; some that I had never even known existed. Service, leadership and the value of an education was a part of that. I joined City year to help me continue on my journey to serve and to impart impact on my community.

What is your favorite thing about your current role? Being a part of Program and Service in a very different capacity helping to increase and continue our work for the betterment of City Year Baton Rouge and the students of Baton Rouge. Having the opportunity to continue to serve and work with my amazing team at Capitol Middle School.

What is your favorite thing to do in Baton Rouge? Experience and explore Baton Rouge’s rich history and food.

If you were a City Year uniform piece, what would you be and why? The iconic Timberland boots, because your uniform is never complete without your tims!

What are you most looking forward to with the corps year beginning? I am looking forward to meet and work with our next corps to #makebetterhappen to move our students forward.

Do you have any advice for corps members? One of my favorite quotes is by Margaret Mead- “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” Always remember why you chose to do City Year, Students First.

What was the most valuable lesson you learned during your time at City Year? The team is the heart of your City Year experience; they will challenge you and teach you some of your most valuable lessons.
